Pawfully Clever was started in 2017 by Laura Heron to provide positive, creative dog training to pet dog owners.
Laura thinks that training should be fun for both the owner and the dog. She helps people develop loving relationships with their pets as well as helping the dog to be easy to live with. Laura is accredited by the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, which included a written and practical assessment along with continuous professional development. She is currently nearly at the end of the year long dog training course by the Professional Association of Dog Trainers, and just needs to do the assessment in October. She has also gone to workshops and courses by the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers, Compass and Kay Laurence amongst others. She regularly reads books on learning theory and dog training (Dogs by Coppinger is a great one, as is How Dogs Learn by Burch and Bailey, but she has studied well over 20 in the past two years and is the proud owner of a groaning bookcase). She has volunteered for Greyhound Gap, including spending a week in their kennels learning about training and handling rescue dogs, and has dog walked for Pawprints rescue in Rugby. Learning should be constant and fun! Laura Heron is fully insured, including indemnity insurance.
Laura is helped by her two Resident Clever Dogs, Charlie and Boo. They like helping, especially if food is involved! She is currently working on their competitve obedience and tricks with a view to competing in Rally and Heelwork to Music oneday.
